Sector 1 (Chiang Rai to Sukothai) Sector 2 (Sukothai to Bangkok)
| Day 10 (17 Nov
2008) : Sukothai to Kamphaeng Phet (84 km)
(GoogleEarth Track)
Start at 8 am for a straight flat ride which however was considered slightly undulating by 2 novice riders. Quick stop at a cottage industry pottery. Another short break after 60 km and off we went to River View Hotel checking in before lunch, which was a sumptious affair in a nearby cafe. All the cyclist pigged out on excellent Thai food, ice cream sundaes and coffee. This meal was followed by Thai massage at the hotel spa and for dinner, an apparently never ending supply of food in the hotels restaurant. In between dishes Mr Wong, a repeat participant as well as the team's unofficial Chinese chiropractor led us through wrist strengthening routine. |

| Day 11 (18 Nov
2008) : Kampeng Phet to Nakorn Sawan (124 km)
(GoogleEarth Track)
Started 8 am for 120 km ride. Stops after 25 and 50 km - at a hot morning - followed by lunch at 80 km at a small prawn farm with simple food from hits own produce. A bit more trafic than the previous days on flat road including 2 snakes crossing the road on different occasions. Cooler temperature for the rest of the day. Arrived Garden Suite Resort at 4pm. Everyone was happy especially the novice riders having achieved a personal best. |

| Day 12 (19 Nov
2008) : Nakorn Sawan to Singburi (136 km)
(GoogleEarth Track)
As usual the ride started at 8 am with an early break for a much needed second breakfast at a petrol station with excellent coffee shop. Scenery was a variety of padi fields, lotus ponds, fish farms, flooded plains and mountains in the distance. Made a small detour to enjoy a fantastic lunch on the Chao Praya river, which we followed for all of the day. Weather was cool, and overcast with a sprinkling of rain near the end of the journey. Record day for flat tyres with 3 in one happy family. The day ended with a Chinese dinner for a change. |

| Day 13 (20 Nov
2008) : Singburi to Ayutthaya (90 km)
(GoogleEarth Track)
Usual 8 am start for another day with perfect weather and wind conditions in the morning. Brief vist at a monestery´s buffalo orphanage with a white buffalo in anticipation of seeing a white elephant later today. Arrived in Ayutthaya at 2 pm after a more strenuous 35 km ride with head winds on challenging road. Had lunch on another floating restaurant before visiting the elephant palace and royal kraal. Very impressive the amount of elephants and their off spring which we were watching while taking their eveing bath either in the river or the 'elephant washing street'. Of course special attention was given to the baby elephants. With ferry and tuk-tuk off to the night market for a spicy dinner by the river. |

| Day 14 (21 Nov
2008) : Ayutthaya to Bangkok (25 km)
(GoogleEarth Track)
Started the day at 8 am with a visit to the retiring Buddha and a large Khmer temple site by the river. Last day was very relaxed with focus on sightseeing and coffee breaks cycling just 25 km through small villages, farmland and cottage industries. Nice tailwinds again for our final riding. Crossed the Chao Praya by ferry and got ready to be at 3pm at the Ministry of Public Health for a very warm welcome reception as we had already experienced in the 2 previous years. The 2008 TTOH in Thailand ended with a lengthy and delicious celebration dinner co-sponsored by Sofitel Centara Grand Bangkok where we happily enjoyed ourselves glad to have concluded this tour successfully and having build new friendships. |
